Art History : Egyptian Toys

For our second unit, Egyptian Art, I decided to have a little fun with the project. After researching all the exciting Egyptian stuff like, why there would be a hippo statue in a tomb, we moved on from journaling to the project... the Egyptian Art Toy!

Here we have the the dress me up Egyptian doll.

Try to complete the Nefertiti puzzle

Dig through the sand and uncover the hidden treasures beneath with the Egyptian Excavation Kit

Make a Mommy Kit complete with paint, gauze, sand and mummy!

The crochet Egyptian Hippo doll.. She crocheted it!

The Dress a Mummy kit comes complete with a variety of different cloths and shoes as well as a place to keep the internal organs.

  1. I love how you art trying to change the way you teach art history. I want to step out of that box but I am nervous that they won't learn what I want them to learn. How are you making sure that they still learn the information.

By the way I love your blog. I have used several of your ideas this year in some way or another.

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks for the kind words! As far as making sure they learn the information, I ask them to choose from several questions. They decide individually which questions they find most interesting and which they want to explore. I still review all the information.
