SchoolArts Magazine Article : Interactive Murals

 

The digital edition of the SchoolArts Magazine article written by Apex students Sarah Muzzillo and John Michael Santos is now online. The article covers the work of Art One students who filled the courtyard of our school with interactive murals. 

Each mural left an empty spot where someone could pose with the work while their friends snapped some photos. In this way the person taking the photo becomes the artists and the photo becomes the work of art. Mind-blowing, I know!

After a week of planning and chalking, our interactive chalk murals are ready for some interactivity! Each mural was designed to be interacted with in some way. You might hold the lollipop, climb the ladder to grab a book or get blown away by an angry cloud.

Interactive Chalk Murals : Almost Done

We are putting the final touches on our 30 interactive chalk murals. Tomorrow, we will take photos of each with someone interacting with them.. like the photo above.. Well, that is just a shadow of the things to come :)



Interactive Chalk Murals : Day 0

It rained yesterday. Not just rained but really rained. A lot. Mucho. Tornado warnings and all. 

And so today, when we came back to school, even though the murals were under cover, they still were washed away. Did I mention it rained?

This mural was basically washed away by the water. But Apex Art students are resilient and don't let a little (or in this case, a lot) of rain stop them. they went back to work starting from day 0.

And they worked and worked and pretty soon the pictures were back up.
