Bricks to Pixels: Part 1

This project is about turning bricks into pixels and reproducing an image from a carefully planned out map to a large wall of chalk.









Most of the time we worked really hard.. sometimes we took a break.



It helps if you have at least one tall person in your group.



The chalk was blended using brushes..



Which was sort of messy



Some teams marked off where and what they would color

Turning Bricks into Pixels

After creating Post It Notes pixel like murals and using balloons to recreate the Mona Lisa, what could be next for Apex High School students? How about turning bricks into pixels?



Using PhotoShop, artist teams created roadmaps that helped determine what color to make each brick. The bricks were then colored one by one till the wall was completed.



The height of the wall was the biggest obstacle. Each mural could only be 32 bricks, or pixels, high. The challenge was to keep the image recognizable using so few pixels.
